Vanessa specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This is a direct and targeted therapy, with the focus on practical skills, which enable clients to tackle their own problems and harness their own resources. CBT has been shown to be effective in treating many conditions, from depression and anxiety disorders to chronic fatigue and eating disorders.
Vanessa is an accredited member of BABCP, the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies and an accredited member of BACP, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Her qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Tina is a qualified counsellor registered with BACP. She focuses on her clients’ individual experience in relation to a current issue or something that occurred in the past which was not dealt with, on either a short or long-term basis dependent on need. Tina’s background as a registered nurse and Occupational Health Director in the financial sector has given her particular insight into and a greater understanding of the stresses and strains of trying to maintain a work life balance.
Julia is a UKCP registered psychotherapist and counsellor and a registered member of BACP. She works integratively which involves an understanding that each client has unique needs indicating different ways of working at different times and she draws on a combination of approaches to help individuals explore and improve their personal and working lives.
Julia sees clients in Letchworth and Welwyn whilst also working as a psychological therapist within the NHS and in higher education as a university counsellor. She brings experience from her previous career as a lawyer working with issues concerning the family, ageing and mental health.
Maritsa is a qualified Counselling Psychologist who is registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) as well as with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). She has worked both within the UK and in South Africa.
Maritsa works within an Integrative Model, drawing upon various models and techniques which best suit each clients' individual needs, thereby individualising treatment to what works best for a client and their presenting issues.
Maritsa offers a full counselling service seeing both children and adults in a warm and non-judgmental space, seeing clients both short and long term depending on their needs.
Individualised therapy is offered in the following areas: scholastic, ADHD, divorced parents and step-families, adjustment problems, grief/bereavement, anxiety, depression, trauma/crisis intervention and general wellbeing. Assessments offered are cognitive assessments adult and children or adolescents as well as career choice assessments.
Sue was an original founding Director of LCC leading our Finance department until December 2014, when she stepped down to concentrate on her clinical work. Sue is a HCPC Registered Chartered Occupational Psychologist, a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, life coach and MBACP registered psychotherapist. Sue’s professional practice grew out of 20 successful years in business and she is experienced in helping people overcome deeply personal problems that can interfere with life at work as well as at home. Sue is a supervisor for practitioners in training for both clinical work and occupational psychology. For LCC she remains a member of the Supervisors Committee.
Dan is a qualified general counsellor and psychosexual and relationship therapist. He is a member of both BACP and COSRT. Dan’s therapeutic approach is humanistic. He works with both individuals and couples, helping them overcome barriers and belief systems to get to a more authentic and happier place in their lives. Dan has extensive experience working with addiction, sexual concerns, anxiety and stress amongst other areas. He blends person-centred counselling with CBT techniques and existentialism. Dan has a background in healthcare communications. He is based in Bricket Wood (between Watford and St Albans).
Lizzie is a qualified art psychotherapist, and has completed further training in systemic family practice.ﾠ She ﾠspecialises in work with children, young people and theirﾠ families with social, emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties.
Lizzie ﾠis experienced in providing consultation, assessment and therapy in CAMHS, School and Private Practice settings. ﾠSessions are ﾠdevised according to need, and can be individual, parent-child, family, or group. Lizzie aims to increase clients’ emotional wellbeing, resilience and mental health, and help families and professionals better understand and manage these issues.
Lizzie also welcomes ﾠenquiries from adults who would ﾠlike to use art as a therapeutic tool and means of expression.
Lizzie is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and an activeﾠ member ﾠof the British Association of Art Therapists. She is a visiting lecturer on theﾠ University of ﾠHertfordshire’s Foundation and Masters Art Therapy courses. Lizzie ﾠis an approved clinical supervisor, and enjoys supervising other qualified and trainee art therapists.
Verity is a qualified Therapeutic Coach and Human Givens Psychotherapist and she will complete a diploma in Couples and Relationship Therapy in May 2016. Verity uses a variety of different coaching and therapy models to offer brief, solution-focused therapy.
Verity works with individuals and adolescents to help them to feel happier and/or calmer and more in control of their life and to make life changes by overcoming any personal blocks that are getting in the way of achieving desired goals. She also works with couples and individuals who wish to overcome relationship and sexual difficulties.
Kirstie is a registered member of BACP and a general member of COSRT. In addition to being a general therapist she is a qualified Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist.
Kirstie utilises an Integrative approach, drawing on her awareness of various therapeutic modalities and adapting these to suit the individual client's need. She works with individuals and couples whatever their sexuality or gender.
Kirstie is registered with Pink Therapy and has undertaken additional training in working with the essentials of gender and sexual diversity. She has personal and comprehensive knowledge of the transgender community and is aware that transgendered people deal with the same day-to-day problems as everyone else irrespective of their specific transgender needs. She is also aware of the issues that family and friends of transgendered people face and believes that her own experience in this area will be of benefit to others.
Jo is an accredited counsellor registered with BACP. She has been with LCC for six years working with a wide range of clients on a one-to-one basis. Jo works within an Integrative Counselling model, which means that she draws upon a number of different counselling and psychotherapy models and techniques. She sees clients in Letchworth and Welwyn and is also a trained Crisis Pregnancy Counsellor working with a local charity. Jo has recently trained with Cruse bereavement care.
Sally’s qualifications include the London Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, Post Graduate Certificate in Emotional Education, a Higher Certificate in Psychodynamic and Person Centred Counselling and a foundation in Person Centred Counselling. Sally is a member of the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists, (COSRT). She uses an integrative approach calling on the variety of learning experiences that she has had. She has a special interest in issues related to Attachment and Trauma. Sally worked with young adults with learning difficulties and/or behavioural problems for many years in an educational support role.
Krystal Woodbridge is a qualified Psychosexual Therapist and Relationship Counsellor working with Local Counselling Centre both in Letchworth and Bedford. She also runs her own private practice, Woodbridge Therapy, and sees clients in St Albans. A general member and Trustee of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT), Krystal is also a qualified Nurse and is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Royal College of Nursing. Krystal is a former winner of the COSRT Student of the Year award 2011 for her work in the field of psychosexual therapy. Krystal practices privately in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire assisting both individuals and couples of any sexual orientation with their sexual and/or relationship difficulties. She has a strong interest in helping couples to communicate more effectively in order to resolve their relationship difficulties.
Kathy Freeman - Practice Manager
Kathy spent her early professional life in mental health as an NHS administrator at Fairfield Hospital. For the past 15 years she has been working with the NHS and private health sectors as a PA to two local surgeons as well as supporting the clients and staff at LCC as their Practice Manager. Kathy brings with her an in-depth knowledge of different healthcare models and healthcare providers. A naturally warm and empathic person, Kathy has enormous skill at helping the client access the appropriate help they need.

Joanna Coker - External Clinical Consultant
Jo was an original founding Director of LCC until March 2016, when she changed her role to External Clinical Consultant. This allowed her to make space for her media and Professional Standards work for COSRT. Jo supervises clinical counselling students in training as well as other medical professionals. She has worked for over 30 years in the NHS with individuals, couples and families. A dual qualified nurse and health visitor, she brings a systemic approach to the work. Jo is the national Professional Standards Manager for COSRT and chairs the Professional Standards Board and heads their media team. For LCC she is a member of the Supervisors Committee and the Practice and Ethics Committee.
Jo is also an Accredited Mediator and is qualified to work with all types of conflict and dispute including work place, relational and legal. She is registered through the clerks room www.clerksroom.com

Julie Sale - Director
Julie is aﾠ UKCP ﾠRegistered Psychotherapist,ﾠCOSRTﾠ Accredited Psychosexual/Relationship Psychotherapist, Supervisor, EFT Trainer, Master NLP Practitioner and Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She specialises in sex and relationship therapy, working with both individuals and couples. Along with Dr Alireza Tabatabaie, Julie is Course Director for the Cambridge Institute of Clinical Sexology, which offers a two-year diploma course in Clinical Sexology, Cambridge Institute. She is a faculty member and research supervisor of the BeeLeaf Institute, running trainings on anxiety, OCD, trauma and human sexual development. Julie is an active member of theﾠ COSRTﾠ Practice Management Board and holds the position of Chair of Ethics.
