Dawn Wilson Local Counselling Centre
Dawn Wilson Local Counselling Centre

Dawn is a qualified counsellor with a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and is a member of the BACP, working within their Ethical Framework.

She works with an integrative approach which includes psychodynamic and existential orientations, with person-centred as her core model. This enables her to draw on a variety of skills to tailor each session to the individual client’s need whilst working at their pace and focussing on their goals.

Dawn is now able to also offer Walk & Talk Therapy sessions where the counselling session takes place in outdoor spaces walking side by side, both literally and metaphorically. This picturesque space allows you to take a moment to breathe, think, and reflect, in an environment full of sights, sounds and smells to rejuvenate the soul. You set the pace; whether you want a relaxing stroll, a faster paced walk or even to simply sit on a bench it is entirely up to you.

Dawn believes that we all have our own answers and that her function as a counsellor is to create a safe environment of empathy, trust and acceptance to support this. She will work with you as an equal to explore your feelings, emotions, fears and experiences to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself.

Dawn has experience of working with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, exam stress, relationship issues, childhood trauma, intrusive thoughts and bullying. She also has considerable experience in supporting friends and family of alcoholics.
